Tashia + Allen | Stamford, CT Engagement Session

I’m soo excited to share images from Tashia and Allen’s recent engagement session. First of all, kudos to these two for rocking out this session in the cold. I’m not talking about chilly, I’m talking about FREEZING weather. The kind that makes your eyes water, your face beat red and your hands frozen solid. These two brought on their “A” game. The love and energy between these two was amazing and despite the cold, they definitely turned on the heat!!

Tashia and Allen, thank you for bringing it on! Raf and I had an amazing time and we look forward to the wedding this summer!

I just love how these two look at each other. Total LOVE!!!Yes! A cup of coffee. After being outside for a while, we stopped by the Franklin Street Works Cafe to warm up and have some coffee. While T&A were relaxing and drinking their coffee,I walked around the art gallery in the shop and found this amazing, lit staircase and knew I had to get a few shots of these two down here. RAWR!!!!!As we left the coffee shop, and grabbed a few last images, it started to snow.

Maria + Zane | Villa Louisa Wedding

I’m finally sharing Maria and Zane’s wedding from the summer that I shot for Val McCormick. If you want to know what a princess bride looks like, just take a look at Maria. She was absolutely stunning in her Maggie Sottero gown and Zane looked rather dashing in his military uniform. The perfect couple! The forecast that day called for rain and the skies were soo dark, I just knew it was going to start pouring any minute. Yet, despite the threat of rain, Maria had a big beaming smile on her face because she was marrying the love of her life. Well, my prayers must’ve worked because not one drop of rain fell that day. Whew! Enjoy a few of my favorites from their special day!

The faith to move forward

By nature, I’m a planner. I plan EVERYTHING out. Seriously, ask my husband. I leave nothing to chance. Believe it or not, I don’t like surprises. I need to know what’s going on. Who, What, When, Where, Why…. I can remember back when I started college, I literally mapped out the next 10 years of my life – when I would graduate college, how long it would take to get my MBA while working full time, even when I’d purchase my first home. For the most part, all those things happened right on schedule. I wish things could always work out soo smoothly. Better yet, I wish I could control everything that I do and work on. Unfortunately that’s not always the case. Sometimes it’s out of our hands. There are those times when you just have to rely on your faith and trust that it will all work out. Those times when you’re not sure if things are going to work, if the road you’re traveling is even worth it. Hand it over to a higher being and trust that he will see you through.

I’m grateful to my friend Terri for introducing me to Proverbs 3, 5-6. It has literally been my lifeline during challenging times, the times when I doubt what I’m doing or when things don’t work out the way I wanted them to. It’s not easy, but I’m learning to trust in him and he will set my paths straight.

Nikyia | Senior Portrait Session

As I was going thru my images from last year, I came across a session that I somehow never blogged about. How could I? This was Nikyia’s Senior Portrait session which we did at her High School and although it was a blistery cold day, we had a blast. Nikyia was a natural and knew how to turn it on for the camera! I loved how this session turned out!

We even used a few members of the lacross team as props. Love how the next two came out!!! Work it girl!!

I start off every year with plans to eat healthier, work out and take better care of myself. One month into my workout regimine, Raf starts cooking up one of his fabulous meals and all that goes down the drain.

As of late, I’ve had an obsession with sneakers. You see, I found a new love – ZUMBA!!!!! I realized that you can’t work out in the same sneakers and after falling in love with the Nike Free Air’s I couldn’t help myself and picked up a few pairs. Nothing wrong with jazzing up your workout outfits. I have no excuse!! I’ve found a form of exercise that I love, my sneaker game is on point, now I need to get down to business and just do it!

When I first started this blog, it was about documenting my journey in photography. I was terrified to tell people I had a blog, but with encouragement from my NY5 Sisters, a fellow photographer and my husband, I decided to throw caution to the wind and put it out there.

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I get when someone leaves a comment on the blog! One morning last week I woke up feeling a little blue and there was a notification that I had received a comment. Such small acts of kindness make my day. It fills me with gratitude and gives me the encouragement to continue down this path of doing something that I really love. So to everyone who stops by, whether or not you leave a comment, THANK YOU……

And to show my appreciation, here’s a cupcake to enjoy. Happy Monday!!!

Giving Props to 2011

I can’t believe that the 1st two weeks of 2012 are already gone. Geez! Where is time going? As I think about my YE recap and look forward to all that 2012 has in store (that’s right,BRING IT ON!!!!!), I realized that I jipped my 2011 recap. I was blessed to document soo many important milestones in peoples lives – engagements, weddings, proposals, birthdays and just life in general.

I took a leap of faith and kept moving forward

Went on two amazing vacations

Welcomed the newest member to the family. We haven’t had a new baby in years!!!!

I worked with some amazing photographers and had the honor of 2nd shooting 26 weddings last year!!!! Yikes – that’s a lotta weddings.

I even shot 3 of my own weddings

After drooling over proposal sessions from one of my favorite photographers I had the honor of documenting my 1st Proposal and I surely hope it’s not the last!!!!

My Wish for 2012

As I sit here trying to think of what to write for my year-end post, I’m at a loss for words. It’s been quite a year of peaks and valleys. My first post of this year was about being unafraid and moving forward. Did fear creep in and rear it’s ugly head? It surely did and it even brought along its cousin, doubt! There were days they hung onto my leg like a child clinging to its mother. Yet despite the fear and the doubt, I learned that it’s okay to feel them. The key is to face them and move on. My biggest lesson was with the passing of my mom this summer. I learned that I can’t live in fear. Despite fear, despite obstacles, despite doubt, I must move forward. And move forward I did, even if it was in slow paces.

One thing that got me thru were quotes – whether they were phrases from the bible, or popular quotes with positive messages. I especially became fond of quotable cards. I love to send out cards and the messages in these cards really hit home. You don’t even need to write a personal message – the card says it all. I loved them soo much that I’d buy them and put them out in my office to keep me uplifted. We all could use a word of encouragement and support every now and then.

So instead of recapping my year with pictures, I’ll keep it short and sweet, with a wish for all of you, as we close out 2011 and welcome 2012. As I said, the card says it all. Need I say more? Happy New Year!!!

Sherena + Earnest | Central Park Engagement Session

On a cold, brisk Sunday afternoon, Sherena, Earnest and I hopped the train into the city for their engagement session. This also turned out to be one of the busiest weekends in New York City this year. Despite the crowds and the cold, these two rocked the session like champs! It wasn’t hard for these two to get comfortable in front of the camera. Throughout the session, whenever Earnest looked at Sherena, out came this big beautiful smile. Love it!!!

Sherena and Earnest I had an amazing time during your engagement session and I can’t wait for the wedding next summer. Earnest, that gives you plenty of time to practice your GQ moves!!! LOL…. Sherena you’ve got the smile on lock! Enjoy my favorites from their session!!!!

It’s not a New York City Session if you don’t get at least one image in Grand Central. Not only was this one of the busiest weekends in the city, but it was the grand opening weekend of the new Apple Store in Grand Central.

Allison + Matt | Glastonbury Hill Country Club Wedding

I love when a wedding is filled with personal touches from the bride and groom – whether it’s photos documenting their courtship, personalized letters/stationary or items that reflect them as a couple. It really just adds that extra “something” to see their personal stamp on the wedding day. Allison and Matt are graphic designers and designed all their wedding stationery and everything came together beautifully. Much thanks to Nikki Nicole Photography for allowing me to come along and document this gorgeous wedding. Enjoy my favorites from the day.

I’ve seen many bridal bouquets and I have to say this is the most unique and beautiful bouquet I’ve ever seen. Simply Stunning!!! The gray little bulbs are silver brunnia and complemented the ivory roses!Inside of this treasure chest are all the letters that Allison and Matt have written each other since they started dating. Matt even made the little chest himself. How sweet!!!
