Remembering on Mother’s Day

Yesterday was a hard one. It was the 1st Mother’s Day with an angel up in the sky. Normally every year, I’d stand in the Hallmark store looking for the perfect card, then go online and order the most colorful bouquet of flowers I could find (she LOVED her flowers). Then early Sunday morning I would call her and wish her a Happy Mother’s Day. This year I felt a bit lost, actually I wasn’t sure how I’d feel. Then sure enough as the days got closer, I started to feel sad that my annual tradition was somehow lost. I actually broke down and cried. Who would I buy a card for? Who would I send the flowers to? Then I realized that while she’s up in the heavens I can still do those things for her. So that’s exactly what I did. I went to Papyrus and bought the perfect card, got her a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and on Sunday morning I spoke to her in my heart. Knowing her, she was right there reading her card and enjoying her flowers.

Alexandra | Fairfield County, CT Lifestyle Session

Last weekend I had the most amazing session with Alexandra. OHH-EMM-GEE!!!!! This Momma is pure fire and I had an amazing time during our session. Despite expressing her nervousness, she turned out to be an absolute firecracker in front of the camera. Seriously, my camera fell in love with her and couldn’t stop capturing images of Sandra!

Reservations or a meal made with love

After a long hard day, the last thing most people want to do is head into the kitchen and cook. Why should we? Isn’t it easier to just make reservations at your favorite restaurant and sit back and relax while someone else does all the work? Or you can always just make a stop at a local spot and grab something to go. BOOM – Done! While I love eating out, nothing beats a home cooked meal, especially when Raf is cooking it. It’s gotten to the point where I prefer having him cook instead of going out to eat. Now, don’t get me wrong, I still love going out to eat (especially when we’re talking snow crab legs at my favorite spot). Yet, there’s something about just hanging out in the kitchen, sipping on a glass of Mosato or a Diet coke and watching Raf work his magic. For those who know Raf and I that means pots/pans and dishes all over the counter, but I’d have it no other way.

Here’s a quick snapshot I took of a recent meal. It was made with a lotta love and you won’t find that kinda lovin’ at a restaurant! Happy Monday!

Danielle + Josh | Anthony’s Ocean View Wedding

Over the past 3 years, thousands of couples have exchanged vows on popular dates 8-8-8, 10-10-10, 9-10-11 and 11-11-11. When Danielle and Josh initially chose their 11-11-11 wedding date, they didn’t realize how symbolic the day would be. Turns out it was Veteran’s Day and since Josh is in the Coast Guard, they realized it was the most perfect day to not only pledge their love, but to honor Josh and all those in the military for serving their country.

Their wedding was beautiful, filled with lots of love from family and friends. The excitement was written all over Danielle’s face, especially when she saw her groom during their 1st look. While the weather was unusually warm all week, it was frigid the day of their wedding, but Danielle rocked it like a super model! Thanks to Val McCormick for allowing me to document the day. Enjoy a few of my favorites!

Watching Danielle during her reception reminded me of my wedding day. She danced the entire night and you could just see and feel her happiness!!

Things I Love: Evelyn’s Kitchen

I’ve decided to start a new series titled none other than “Things I love”.

I’m writing this post as I sit in a dessert coma. Yes, but it was soo worth it! For over a year, I’d heard about what a great chef Ayla (owner of Evelyn’s Kitchen) was from my friend Dolores and about a month ago I got to experience the hype first hand. Dolores dropped off a box of Ayla’s Toffee Blondie Bites. Oh my Lord! I swear, it is like a little taste of heaven. Serious!!! This comes from someone who’s not a big dessert person. Then about a week later, as fate would have it, Ayla catered a Valentines Day event at the job and again, I came face to face with the Blondie Bites and ran right smack into the most delicious mini red velvet cupcakes.

I spoke of the delicious dessert bites for weeks and finally yesterday, Raf and I got into the car and took the drive to Ayla’s store front in Harlem. There I was greeted with the tantalizing aromas of samoas baking in the oven (Watch out Girl Scouts), shelves of just-baked blondie bites, personal sized apple pies and soo many other indulgences. I had walked into a dessert-a-holic’s dream! Don’t worry I was well behaved and walked out with a small Yummy Box of Blondie Bites, red Velvet cupcakes and an mini apple pie for Raf. I couldn’t wait to get home so I could enjoy my goodies. It was totally worth it and don’t worry, I didn’t eat it all. There’s plenty left over which I will kindly give away to my son and nephew.

Tashia + Allen | Stamford, CT Engagement Session

I’m soo excited to share images from Tashia and Allen’s recent engagement session. First of all, kudos to these two for rocking out this session in the cold. I’m not talking about chilly, I’m talking about FREEZING weather. The kind that makes your eyes water, your face beat red and your hands frozen solid. These two brought on their “A” game. The love and energy between these two was amazing and despite the cold, they definitely turned on the heat!!

Tashia and Allen, thank you for bringing it on! Raf and I had an amazing time and we look forward to the wedding this summer!

I just love how these two look at each other. Total LOVE!!!Yes! A cup of coffee. After being outside for a while, we stopped by the Franklin Street Works Cafe to warm up and have some coffee. While T&A were relaxing and drinking their coffee,I walked around the art gallery in the shop and found this amazing, lit staircase and knew I had to get a few shots of these two down here. RAWR!!!!!As we left the coffee shop, and grabbed a few last images, it started to snow.

Maria + Zane | Villa Louisa Wedding

I’m finally sharing Maria and Zane’s wedding from the summer that I shot for Val McCormick. If you want to know what a princess bride looks like, just take a look at Maria. She was absolutely stunning in her Maggie Sottero gown and Zane looked rather dashing in his military uniform. The perfect couple! The forecast that day called for rain and the skies were soo dark, I just knew it was going to start pouring any minute. Yet, despite the threat of rain, Maria had a big beaming smile on her face because she was marrying the love of her life. Well, my prayers must’ve worked because not one drop of rain fell that day. Whew! Enjoy a few of my favorites from their special day!

The faith to move forward

By nature, I’m a planner. I plan EVERYTHING out. Seriously, ask my husband. I leave nothing to chance. Believe it or not, I don’t like surprises. I need to know what’s going on. Who, What, When, Where, Why…. I can remember back when I started college, I literally mapped out the next 10 years of my life – when I would graduate college, how long it would take to get my MBA while working full time, even when I’d purchase my first home. For the most part, all those things happened right on schedule. I wish things could always work out soo smoothly. Better yet, I wish I could control everything that I do and work on. Unfortunately that’s not always the case. Sometimes it’s out of our hands. There are those times when you just have to rely on your faith and trust that it will all work out. Those times when you’re not sure if things are going to work, if the road you’re traveling is even worth it. Hand it over to a higher being and trust that he will see you through.

I’m grateful to my friend Terri for introducing me to Proverbs 3, 5-6. It has literally been my lifeline during challenging times, the times when I doubt what I’m doing or when things don’t work out the way I wanted them to. It’s not easy, but I’m learning to trust in him and he will set my paths straight.

Nikyia | Senior Portrait Session

As I was going thru my images from last year, I came across a session that I somehow never blogged about. How could I? This was Nikyia’s Senior Portrait session which we did at her High School and although it was a blistery cold day, we had a blast. Nikyia was a natural and knew how to turn it on for the camera! I loved how this session turned out!

We even used a few members of the lacross team as props. Love how the next two came out!!! Work it girl!!
